Lake Escapes LLC / Building a Vacation Home Legacy.

The product resembles homes of the past and boasts many practical green features.

The objective is to affordably build a substantial home with desirable and livable custom features.  The home should be stylish, open, energy efficient, and have the durability to withstand decades of service while eliminating most of the maintenance, interior painting, and the general repairs we’ve become accustom to in our paper, chalk, plastic, and particle board mini-mansions of the recent decades.

Lake Escapes Material & Design Preferences

  • Roofing – Metal roofing is longer lasting and more functional than 20 or 30year shingles. Works well in concert with above the decking insulation design. Eliminates most of the attic heat storage that keeps our cooling systems working long after the evening temperatures fall below the interior thermostat setting.

  • Exterior Siding - Pine or Hardy Plank

  • Exterior Stone – Natural Flagstone looks good, low cost

  • Vinyl windows – Low cost and low maintenance

  •  Insulation – Closed cell polyurethane foam 3X the cost of standard fiberglass & paper insulators and darn well worth it.

  • Fireplace – Wood burning stove can provide most of the home’s heating.

  • HVAC – The closed cell insulation package will provide efficiencies that can allow the downsizing of the heating & cooling system. The savings can help offset the extra cost of closed cell foam insulation.

  • HVAC & Design – Even today, most new home designs leave no option but to put your air handler in the attic. Think about it…… the piece of equipment that is cooling your home sits in an environment that is, in some cases, 100 to 120 degrees. The delivery system uses flexible duct work with typical runs stretching out as much as 50 feet per vent. Yes the ducting is insulated but much efficiency is lost in this attempt to deliver cool air through an oven like environment.

  • Interior finish – Wood is stronger and more durable than sheetrock. Pine walls can be painted, stained, or clear coated. Pictures can be hung and the house can be lived in without the constant repair & paint.

  • Flooring – We offer a White Painted Poplar Flooring  ( An interior decorator's dream! )

  • Roof Structure – Rough cut lumber is often used in building our roofs. The lumber is cut locally, sometimes on site and offers a green credit because of the shipping cost & fuel savings realized.

Complete homes built on your land for as little as $90 per square foot
